Neuromuscular blocking agents, particularly rocuronium, are a major cause of perioperative anaphylaxis. This report presents a rare and severe case of rocuronium-induced anaphylaxis in a 50-year-old woman undergoing an elective total laparoscopic hysterectomy at a tertiary care center in Eastern Nepal. Despite multiple doses of intravenous epinephrine, the patient did not achieve adequate hemodynamic recovery. However, a single bolus of sugammadex resulted in the rapid and complete resolution of symptoms. This case highlights the potential of sugammadex as a life-saving adjunct in treating NMBA-induced anaphylaxis that is unresponsive to standard inter ventions.

Objective: Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common form of dementia, poses a significant global public health challenge. This study aimed to systematically assess the research landscape of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)  in the prevention and treatment of AD using bibliometric methods, with particular emphasis on its distinctive mechanisms and recent progress in clinical translation. Methods: Publications on TCM for AD prevention and treatment from 2015 to 2024 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Key bibliometric indicators, including authorship, keywords, journals, countries, institutions, and references, were extracted and analyzed. Results: A total of 705 publications from 35 countries and 835 institutions were included. Among the top 10 contributing countries, 60% were located in Asia, while the rest were from North America, Europe, and Oceania. China led the field with 654 publications, accounting for 86.6% of the total output. The Journal of Ethnopharmacology emerged as the most influential journal based on citation count (848 citations). Keyword analysis highlighted molecular docking, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress as key research hotspots. Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis offers valuable insights into global trends and research priorities regarding TCM in AD treatment. The findings provide a theoretical basis for promoting the clinical application of TCM and support the advancement of integrated efforts across industry, academia, and research sectors. The study also demonstrates enormous potential for cross-integration with perioperative medicine. Such integration is crucial for enhancing the role of TCM in the prevention and management of AD.

The leading cause of mortality within ICUs is sepsis; however, treatment options typically fail to appropriately regulate the severely dysregulated host response to this syndrome. Recently, there has been an unexpected observation that the common alcoholic aversion treatment disulfiram has exhibited additional immune-regulatory capabilities outside of its original purpose. Disulfiram has shown some effectiveness in preclinical settings at reducing pyroptosis as well as NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Currently there is no sound systematic evidence that supports the repositioning of disulfiram for use in sepsis; more importantly, significant deficiencies in the current research were also observed and deficiencies with respect to existing investigations indicated that future studies should adopt more precise clinical approaches in order to validate the therapeutic effect of disulfiram against sepsis. Integrating the existing evidence and bringing forward feasible directions for future research also constitutes another goal of this review, which helps us better highlight the value of disulfiram as a treatment in sepsis management and further streamline research and clinical translation efforts for the development of this topic in the near future.

Ferroptosis is a newly identified form of cell death that has garnered attention in recent years. Current research has clarified several key mechanisms of ferroptosis, with reactive oxygen species, oxidative stress, and iron me tabolism emerging as central factors. Additionally, various signaling pathways, molecules, and organelles also contribute to the regulation and progression of ferroptosis. Activation of ferroptosis has significant implications for sepsis-related inflammation, providing both a valuable area for scientific investigation and a potential target for therapeutic interventions. This article reviews the biological processes and molecular mechanisms of ferroptosis, as well as the small molecules and signaling pathways that regulate it. Additionally, we discuss the role of ferropto sis in the progression of sepsis and its contribution to organ damage.
